Crossroads
It is our belief at Carlsbad Mental Health Center that the disease of addiction, although not curable, is treatable. Our qualified and professional staff use evidence-based approaches to treatment; changing one life at a time. In this way Crossroads combats the devastation caused by addictions that helps clients establish recovery.
Crossroads strives to build supportive relationships with service providers throughout the state to foster continuity in serving the needs of addicted women and their families.
Our Goals:
- To treat the chronic illness of addiction
- To educate women to increase their knowledge about the disease and recovery process
- To provide the tools and skills needed to establish and sustain long-term recovery
- Teach women relapse prevention for sustained recovery from all mood-altering substances
- Improve the family’s quality of life by breaking the cycle of abuse and addiction
- Help mothers and children bond effectively that enhances healthy family living
Treatment Program
Crossroads is a 90-day residential treatment program, structured for motivated mothers who are ready to deal with their alcohol or drug addictions. The residential services include:
- Group and Individual Therapy
- Dietician-approved meals
- Medication Management
- Critical Incident Stress Management
- Prevention Programs
- Case Management
- and more
Crossroads provides a safe atmosphere in which respite, family bonding, and recuperation can take place. The program requires full participation from the women in both individual and group therapy. Classes include a wide range of topics: women’s issues, parenting, self-esteem, codependency, job preparation, 12-step recovery, relaspe prevention, aftercare, nutrition, budgeting, exercise and recreational activities.
The Home
Crossroads is a large modern “homelike” facility with common living, dining, and recreational areas. Each woman has a room she shares with her own children. Efforts are made to furnish the room to the specific needs of the family.
School age children are transported to and from the front door of the facility by the school bus. Infants and toddlers use our on-site childcare center, supervised by trained and attentive childcare providers. The facility includes a large yard with playground equipment and picnic tables.
Admission Criteria
Crossroads will consider any woman for admission who is committed to the program, treatment, and recovery, regardless of ability to pay.
At Crossroads, we provide the unique opportunity for a mother to be with her children during her time in treatment. This approach provides a milieu in which children bond or re-bond with their mother following a difficult time of family dysfunction due to substance abuse. Criteria include:
- Female, 19-years of age or older
- One to two children per mother
- Children must be 10 years of age or younger
- Pre-admission phone screening
