Drug Court Group
Drug Courts are designed to provide community-based treatment and supervision to selected offenders who are identified as having substance abuse issues. The program combines the principles of alcohol and drug education with motivational enhancement and responsible decision-making. Drug Court Group consists of group counseling sessions once a week for a total of eight weeks.
Domestic Violence Group
Carlsbad Mental Health Center believes that intervention with people who batter requires a value-laden and directive approach. During Domestic Violence Group, clients are challenged on their beliefs concerning the use of violence. Clients are taught alternatives to violence, and that violence and abuse are responses chosen out of a range of potential behaviors. Many components and tools are taught and reviewed during the group that includes: choices v. excuses, defining domestic violence, identifying the cycle of violence and how to end it, health expressions of anger, health conflict resolution strategies, communication skills and identifying and expressing feelings other than anger.
Mediation
Mediation is a method of solving disputes. The people involved in a dispute meet together with a trained mediator who listens to all parties, helps bring the issues of the dispute into focus, and helps the parties find a solution that mutually beneficial. The mediator promotes cooperation and compromise. For these reasons, mediation is useful to people who are considering a change in their lives and want this change to take place in a cooperative manner.
Bueno Puerto
The Bueno Puerto child exchange and supervised visitation program provides a safe venue by which children can be exchanged for visitations between parents and guardians. Supervised exchanges will take place at our facility and are designed to allow exchanges without interaction between parties. Providing children with a safe, predictable environment with friendly staff may allow the children to enjoy their visits more and experience less stress. To enroll, each parent must separately make an appointment to go over the rules and each parent must agree to abide by the rules.
Accessing Alternative Sentencing
Once the Court, Probation/Parole Officer or legal counsel has referred you to participate in one of our alternative Sentencing Programs all you need to do is come by our offices at 914 N. Canal during regular working hours and bring copies of the following:
- Court Order
- Insurance Information
- Proof of Income
If you are referred for one of the Alternative Sentencing Programs you will need to complete an assessment interview. Assessments are done on a walk-in basis.
